GI Joe is the code name for America’s daring, highly trained special mission force. Its purpose: to defend human freedom against Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world.

This map covers the IDW GI Joe books (GI Joe, Cobra, and Special Missions) from the Cobra Command crossover to the end of those series in 2014. This continues the mapping started here.

Cobra Command

Cobra Annual 2012
GI Joe Volume 2 #9
Snake Eyes #9
Cobra Volume 2 #9
GI Joe Volume 2 #10
Snake Eyes #10
Cobra Volume 2 #10
GI Joe Volume 2 #11
Snake Eyes #11
Cobra Volume 2 #11
GI Joe Volume 2 #12
Cobra Volume 2 #12
Snake Eyes #12
GI Joe: Hearts and Minds

Target Snake Eyes

GI Joe Volume 2 #13-17
Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow #13-17
GI Joe Volume 2 #18
Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow #18
GI Joe Volume 2 #19
Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow #19
GI Joe Volume 2 #20
Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow #20, 21
GI Joe Volume 2 #21

Threat Matrix

GI Joe Special Missions #1-4
GI Joe Volume 3 #1-5
GI Joe Special Missions #5-13
GI Joe Volume 3 #6-15

GI Joe Special Missions #14

Cobra: Tiger Teams

Cobra Volume 2 #13-21
The Cobra Files #1-9

Hearts and Minds doesn’t tie into any of the story arcs so it could go anywhere. I added it into Cobra Command as it was a fairly thin volume.

If you like your books thicker, you could combine Cobra Command with Target Snake Eyes to make one volume and Threat Matrix with Tiger Teams to form another. I also prefer keeping the Cobra books separate because they don’t cross over with the other books.

This is a map of the IDW reboot of GI Joe from the start to the end of the Civil War storyline. This includes the main title as well as Origins, Cobra, Snake Eyes, and the special issues.

GI Joe is the code name for America’s daring, highly trained special mission force. Its purpose: to defend human freedom against Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world.

This is a mapping of the IDW reboot of the GI Joe universe through the Civil War story line.

You could rearrange the Origins stories to be in chronological order but I think release order makes for a better reading experience. A lot of Civil War happens simultaneously but I think the order listed below makes the most sense.

Origins

GI Joe #0 “In or Out”
GI Joe: Origins #1-23

GI Joe: M.A.S.S. Destruction

GI Joe #0 “One Word”
GI Joe #1-27

Cobra: Deep Cover

GI Joe #0 “Deep Cover”
GI Joe: Cobra volume 1 #1-4
GI Joe: Helix Special #1
GI Joe: Cobra Special #1
GI Joe: Cobra volume 2 #1-9
GI Joe: Cobra Special #2
GI Joe: Cobra volume 2 #10-13

GI Joe: Cobra Civil War

Cobra Civil War #0
GI Joe volume 2 #1
Cobra Civil War #1
GI Joe volume 2 #2
Cobra Civil War #2
Snake Eyes #1-3
GI Joe volume 2 #3-4
Snake Eyes #4
Cobra Civil War #3-5
Snake Eyes #5
Cobra Civil War #6
GI Joe volume 2 #5-7
Snake Eyes #6-8
Cobra Civil War #7
GI Joe volume 2 #8
Cobra Civil War #8

You could include the Cobra Annual at the end of Civil War but in feels more like an introduction to the next storyline than a wrap-up to the previous one.
