Very true that's what the writer had in mind. After reading the issues I dont think that pacing works for me.

Since the King Sized special ends with Bishop back in current times yes, it could go after Cable #6 leading to his appearance in current times in #7.

However it does break the pacing between #6 and #7. At the end of #6 Cable finds the mountain range in which he'll settle in. We see him climbing them in #7.

Cable is also still on the run at the end of King Sized which I think leads better into Cable #6 where he is still running compared to Cable #7 which starts with him being settled in. Not to mention the big art change from the series into the King Sized Special.

It can work both ways so it's up to personal preference but I prefer to keep the story focused on Cable and Hope over Bishop.

I would say so but it does depend on your prior knowledge...like if you know your basic characters and power sets.
Any prerequisites are as follows:

A Must:
House of M

Good for background:
X-Men Blinded by the Light
Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men

X-Men PHD (all of these are post House of M):
New X-Men Childhood's End vol 1-5
X-Factor (Recent Peter David series) vol 1-4
