Volume 56: Day of the Atom

Finally putting to rest their own recent past, the X-Men embark on an all-new, all-different era of excitement! Cyclops and Emma Frost re-form the X-Men with the express purpose of “astonishing” the world. But when breaking news regarding the mutant gene unexpectedly hits the airwaves, will it derail their new plans before they even get started? As demand for the “mutant cure” reaches near-riot levels, the X-Men go head-to-head with the enigmatic Ord, with an unexpected ally and some unexpected adversaries tipping the scales!

When everyone’s favorite shape-shifting secret agent is sent to Europe to investigate a biotech company rumored to be using mutants as guinea pigs, she discovers a mystery far greater than anything she’d imagined! As Mystique and Shortpack get closer to their objective, they must confront a new revelation: that someone is selling transient mutants as guinea pigs, slaves and worse! Will Mystique go after this mutant-selling scum, or will she allow her personal crisis to tear her apart first?

Volume 56.01: Wolverine Coyote Crossing (Pending)

The 2003 Wolverine series crosses over into the X-Men a lot after issue 19.  It did not make sense to bind the title on it’s own.  The first three story arcs as well as Old Man Logan do not fit in anywhere with the X-Men so I opted to make them their own bind.  I may update this volume with miscellaneous stories.

Volume 57: Choosing Sides

The Xavier Institute students thought they had it tough when Professor X was running things but now Cyclops and Emma Frost are in charge! As a new semester begins, the students adopt code names and costumes, and are separated into training squads…and Dani Moonstar’s New Mutants soon find themselves feuding with Emma Frost’s Hellions.

The X-Men investigate a series of mysterious murders in New York City. All the victims seem to have been cut to pieces by blades…Adamantium blades! But if Wolverine didn’t murder these people, then who did?! Plus: While on assignment to track down missing teammate Sage, the X-Men discover more than they bargained for: the birth of a newer and deadlier Hellfire Club!

Then, welcome to Mutant Town, the dark corner of New York City where the long arm of the law has been severed clean. Here, the mutant population doesn’t sport GQ-style or champagne dreams. They eke out each day in squalid tenement rows and filthy streets where only one man and one law can be trusted: the X-Man Bishop.

Volume 58: World’s End

Professor Xavier has now assembled his ragtag team of Magneto and Callisto with youngsters Wicked, Freakshow and Shola under their tutelage. Already struggling to keep the peace in Genosha, as well as between themselves, will the team have the strength to get to the bottom of simultaneous terrorist attacks on X-Corp offices around the world? Plus: Magneto has returned to Genosha, and he’s got someone with him…someone who promises to shake things up for Professor X and his newly formed team!

Then Someone…or something…is haunting the halls of the Xavier Institute, and it’s up to the X-Men-in-training to get to the bottom of it! Can the New Mutants find a way to bring peace to this tortured being before they become the tortured?

Finally, the mysterious and powerful Phoenix Force is life incarnate, and yet it consumes whole worlds in a moment. Its long history with the X-Men is fraught with tragedy… especially concerning one of the most beloved of their number, Jean Grey. What will happen when the Phoenix returns to Earth in search of the one mortal who could ever contain its power… only to find her dead?

Volume 59: Enemy of the State

Wolverine has long been the X-Men’s most dangerous member but now, this deadly living weapon has switched sides! Defeated by the Gorgon and brainwashed by Hydra and the Hand, Wolverine has become an agent of the ruthless ninja clan slicing and dicing his way through S.H.I.E.L.D., the Fantastic Four and the X-Men! And his former friends and teammates will pay a very high price to subdue him. As Hydra picks off superhumans one by one and the X-Men mourn a fallen friend, S.H.I.E.L.D. works feverishly to deprogram Wolverine. Can he be turned against his former masters in time to prevent worldwide death and destruction?

Then The X-Men travel to Antarctica to respond to an S.O.S. from a colony of mutants…and what they find is far more shocking than they expected! Will the X-Men share the colony’s gruesome fate?

Volume 60: Dangerous Liaisons

A new student has arrived at the Xavier Institute. She’s sexy, sassy, and has the hots for Gambit! Will Remy be seduced by this little Lolita, or will Rogue do the unthinkable to keep her man?!

Ever wonder what Gambit gets up to when he’s not out saving the world with the X-Men? Welcome to the exciting but treacherous terrain of the New Orleans underworld, where Gambit’s skills and mastery are unquestioned but this time, his confidence might be his downfall! Gambit has faced some risky jobs, but this may be his most dangerous yet: He’ll have to infiltrate the heavily-fortified home of the world’s most powerful mutants. That’s right…Gambit’s got to swipe something right from under the noses of his teammates, the X-Men!

Then Nightcrawler’s back but for how long?! As a badly injured Kurt lies on the brink of death, moments of his life flash before his eyes. Unfortunately, these memories are not how he remembered. Is his past a lie? Could the sins of his murderous brother be paid for by Nightcrawler? Or is Kurt actually responsible for atrocities even he finds unspeakable?!

Volume 61: Target X

“Year’s End”, the Xavier Institute’s end-of-year dance is upon the New Mutants. Invitations are declined, hearts broken, and jealously runs rampant! And just as the X-Men leave for a mission, an old villain sees this as the perfect time to strike! Then the Hellions spend the summer in California, where they’ll discover the dirty secrets from one of their pasts and will face a temptation that will determine whether these kids will be heroes or villains.

Callisto answers a cry for help from Warren Worthington, a.k.a. Archangel! But Callisto and Warren have some pretty unpleasant history between them…can they overcome their differences long enough to survive? Meanwhile, Professor X and Magneto struggle to help their disturbed guest on Genosha.

After escaping the facility that created her, X-23 struggles to create a life for herself. However she will not rest until she faces off with the one man most responsible for her life, Wolverine. There will be blood.

Then, the demonic Belasco pulls the X-Mansion into Limbo and he’s looking for Magik! Illyana Rasputin has returned to life and Belasco will put the New X-Men through literal hell until he finds her! With the team scattered, wounded and terrified, all hope seems lost. But Illyana has arrived, mad as hell and she wants her soul back! Can Pixie, of all people, help save the day? And when Magik’s quest catches the attention of the other demon lords, the X-Men must help Illyana find herself before an ancient evil is unleashed!

The X-Men are back from space, but the team is shattered, broken and separated. Then, attacks in the Morlock Tunnels immediately grab the X-Men’s attention. What do these attacks have to do with the future of the mutant race? Maybe Storm can get to the bottom of all this!

Then Beast finds himself in a race against the clock to see what he can do to save the destiny of his fellow mutants before time runs out. Alone and with the future in his hands, can he stumble upon the key that will bring about a positive change, or will a species now endangered be headed irrevocably for extinction?
