Volume 56: Day of the Atom

Finally putting to rest their own recent past, the X-Men embark on an all-new, all-different era of excitement! Cyclops and Emma Frost re-form the X-Men with the express purpose of “astonishing” the world. But when breaking news regarding the mutant gene unexpectedly hits the airwaves, will it derail their new plans before they even get started? As demand for the “mutant cure” reaches near-riot levels, the X-Men go head-to-head with the enigmatic Ord, with an unexpected ally and some unexpected adversaries tipping the scales!

When everyone’s favorite shape-shifting secret agent is sent to Europe to investigate a biotech company rumored to be using mutants as guinea pigs, she discovers a mystery far greater than anything she’d imagined! As Mystique and Shortpack get closer to their objective, they must confront a new revelation: that someone is selling transient mutants as guinea pigs, slaves and worse! Will Mystique go after this mutant-selling scum, or will she allow her personal crisis to tear her apart first?

Volume 56.01: Wolverine Coyote Crossing (Pending)

The 2003 Wolverine series crosses over into the X-Men a lot after issue 19. It did not make sense to bind the title on it’s own. The first three story arcs as well as Old Man Logan do not fit in anywhere with the X-Men so I opted to make them their own bind. I may update this volume with miscellaneous stories.

The Xavier Institute students thought they had it tough when Professor X was running things but now Cyclops and Emma Frost are in charge! As a new semester begins, the students adopt code names and costumes, and are separated into training squads…and Dani Moonstar’s New Mutants soon find themselves feuding with Emma Frost’s Hellions.

The X-Men investigate a series of mysterious murders in New York City. All the victims seem to have been cut to pieces by blades…Adamantium blades! But if Wolverine didn’t murder these people, then who did?! Plus: While on assignment to track down missing teammate Sage, the X-Men discover more than they bargained for: the birth of a newer and deadlier Hellfire Club!

Then, welcome to Mutant Town, the dark corner of New York City where the long arm of the law has been severed clean. Here, the mutant population doesn’t sport GQ-style or champagne dreams. They eke out each day in squalid tenement rows and filthy streets where only one man and one law can be trusted: the X-Man Bishop.

Professor Xavier has now assembled his ragtag team of Magneto and Callisto with youngsters Wicked, Freakshow and Shola under their tutelage. Already struggling to keep the peace in Genosha, as well as between themselves, will the team have the strength to get to the bottom of simultaneous terrorist attacks on X-Corp offices around the world? Plus: Magneto has returned to Genosha, and he’s got someone with him…someone who promises to shake things up for Professor X and his newly formed team!

Then Someone…or something…is haunting the halls of the Xavier Institute, and it’s up to the X-Men-in-training to get to the bottom of it! Can the New Mutants find a way to bring peace to this tortured being before they become the tortured?

Finally, the mysterious and powerful Phoenix Force is life incarnate, and yet it consumes whole worlds in a moment. Its long history with the X-Men is fraught with tragedy… especially concerning one of the most beloved of their number, Jean Grey. What will happen when the Phoenix returns to Earth in search of the one mortal who could ever contain its power… only to find her dead?

That’s right…Gambit’s got to swipe something right from under the noses of his teammates, the X-Men!

Then Nightcrawler’s back but for how long?! As a badly injured Kurt lies on the brink of death, moments of his life flash before his eyes.
Welcome to the House of M. A world where your heart’s greatest desire can and does come true. A world where homo superior is dominant, homo sapiens are content and peace reigns. A world that seems too good to be true. That doesn’t seem real. A world that isn’t real…but a world of unreality where everything will change forever. Welcome to a house of cards built from the ashes of the disassembled Avengers and the legacy of one of the X-Men’s greatest foes. Where the longer the secrets of the House of M remain untold, the further away reality has any hope of being restored.

*This mapping is based off of an X-Men reading order. Meaning, this volume is optimized if you have been reading all the X-Men titles.

Since my binds are mainly focus on the X-Men I have made Wolverine a secondary priority.
I included Origin (Wolverine’s origin story) in this bind as House of M restored his memory. If you are focusing on a Wolverine run then bind House of M, Origin then jump to Wolverine Origins.

It was the worst day in X-Men history. In the blink of an eye, the whole world changed. Now it’s the day after. The House of M is over, but the effects will be felt for the rest of their lives. How do the X-Men pick up the pieces in a world that has completely changed? Plus: Something’s amiss at the House of Xavier! A sneak attack forces the X-Men to re-evaluate just who their friends are and to aligns them with former enemies! Xavier’s School becomes a haven for those that are different. but has this former sanctuary become the one place most dangerous for mutants? It’s the day he’s lost his powers, his sister and his cause. How far is he willing to go to get them back?

All he wanted was to make the world a perfect place for mutantkind. Pietro Maximoff was Quicksilver, the fastest living creature on Earth until the Scarlet Witch took it all away. Now, the son of Magneto is despised, rejected, alone and powerless. Crushed and defeated, his only hope and refuge lies with the Inhumans. Re-united with his wife Crystal, will his desperate ambitions lead him to an even greater betrayal?

Excalibur is back, just the way you like them! From the ashes of House of M a new Excalibur team is formed to combat the aftereffects of this cataclysmic event! Witness the birth of Captain Britain’s new team forming, as a sinister force already tries to tear them apart!

The X-Men are about to find out! In the wake of the tragic events of House of M, the mutant community is in turmoil and the X-Men are bearing the brunt of this New World Order. Amid the chaos, a new enemy awakens, one whose very existence will haunt the founding members of the X-Men like nothing has before. Who is this new threat? How is he tied to Professor X’s darkest secret? Cyclops, Wolverine and the others must find out soon, before they and those closest to them go mad!

A new direction for the X-Men, or at least what’s left of them! As Rogue leads her new team old threats are put to rest and more deadly threats emerge from the unlikeliest of places. Plus: What could possibly strike terror into the heart of…Sabretooth?! And who are the Children of the Vault?

Almost all of Earth’s mutants find themselves depowered! With their species all but gone and emboldened enemies looming on all sides, the remaining New X-Men close ranks and form a new squad but what about their suddenly human friends and classmates? And what happens when X-23 arrives at the mansion? The rules have changed, the safeties are off and Reverend Stryker has found a terrifying new weapon in his holy crusade against mutants! The New X-Men will be battered, beaten and worse, and suffer assaults on all fronts. Can this untested new team summon the strength to survive and triumph?

Finally, Captain Britain must take on his opposite for a battle that will be waged upon many worlds. Plus: One of the team members suddenly succumbs to an all-too-real tragedy. The team must pull together and care for their fallen friend while their own lives fall to pieces.
