The character is really brought to life by Alan Davis work, and I have grown to be a huge fan of everything he draws. The X-Men archives material reprints Davis first work on the Captain, and the bulk of it is written by the famous scribe, Alan Moore.

To me, this was one of the best teams to ever work on a Wolverine book. It’s a shame that they were only able to produce 24 issues together before Silvestri left to help form Image Comics.

I’m a big fan of Alex Summers / Havok, so this was a neat series to see him highlighted out of Cyclops’ shadow. Clearly the first half of the series was better than the last half, but it reads nicely. Being 32 issues long at least gave Howard Mackie an opportunity to flesh out the alternate world.

In reading the first couple of issues of Flash Rebirth, it came to my attention that I didn’t know that much about Barry Allen aside from his sacrifice in the original Crisis and his near-sainthood status thereafter. Thus I decided to bind and read this particular story because of it’s significance in Barry’s history. Who knew his past would get so screwed up in Rebirth. Still this is a classic Flash run (no pun intended…)
