Volume 1: X-Tenuating Circumstances

Beset from all sides by a growing roster of vicious foes, the New Mutants and their mysterious mentor Cable have no choice but to transform into a proactive, butt-kicking, take-no-prisoners mutant strike team! You can insert Kings of Pain Annual event after New Mutants 100. New Mutants (1984) Annual 1, New Warriors (1991) Annual 1, Uncanny X-Men (1963) Annual 15 and X-Factor (1986) Annual 6.  I bound them in X-Men Volume 21 so I left it out of here.

Volume 2: Assault on Greymalkin

After the Mutant Liberation Front are broken out of prison by the mysterious and maniacal Reignfire, Cable and Co. must deal with the MlF’s kidnapping of government liaison Peter Henry Gyrich. and just when things couldn’t get worse, the madcap Arcade makes his presence known, causing more murderous mayhem than you can believe!

The mighty mutants known as X-Force team up with one of the most popular teams of heroes to come out of the nineties the New Warriors! When the villainous Upstarts target former members of the New Mutants and Hellions for their latest hunt, the two teams find themselves in the crosshairs!

When the techno-organic Phalanx kidnap the X-Men and establish a foothold on Earth, X-Force must team with X-Factor and Excalibur to battle the aliens but who or what is Douglock? And how will X-Force react to fighting alongside what appears to be their late friend Doug Ramsey?

Volume 4: Under One Roof

A new era begins as Cable revamps his mutant strike team and relocates to the X-Mansion, where Cannonball ‘graduates’ to the X-Men, and Boomer becomes unhealthily attached to the murderous prisoner named Sabretooth! But when Cable’s wife, Aliya, returns from the future with a dire warning, he’ll be swept up in a time-traveling battle to save his younger self from his arch-nemesis Stryfe!

Meanwhile, X-Force is caught up in an unholy alliance between Sebastian Shaw and the horrifying Holocaust! As all hell breaks loose, the members of X-Force will target their own leaders, Cable and Domino – and that means things will get explosive! Threats lie in wait including the Blob, the Mimic, Selene, the Externals and S.H.I.E.L.D.! Boomer approaches Meltdown, there’s Risqué business for Warpath, and Siryn must enlist Deadpool’s help to regain her freedom! Then the shadow of Onslaught looms over Cable and X-Force as the subtle evil begins its rise X-Force X-Force tries to protect Cable’s “brother,” X-Man, from Onslaught, but Mister Sinister wants him too!

Volume 5: Destination Unknown

Volume 6: New Deviants New Hellions

Still road tripping! As Sunspot and Meltdown get close X-Force attends the Exploding Colossal Man and find a whole lot of trouble, plus Karma! Then the truth of Bobby’s connection to the ruthless Reignfire is finally revealed but can they both survive? Then Moonstar runs afoul of the Deviants! And Domino battles…Shatterstar?!

Then the Hellions return! X-Force’s newest member, Jesse Bedlam, has finally found his long-lost brother. But the reunion won’t be what he expected! “King Bedlam” plans to awaken the deadly Armageddon Man, and the team backing him up includes some familiar faces! Can X-Force triumph against former friends and family to avert a nuclear nightmare? Volume 7: Bad Company

Like all mutants, X-Force must face a callous and deadly world but now they’ve been trained for it by Peter Wisdom, one of the most callous and deadly mutants of all! The proactive paranormal platoon faces a city transformed by Cold War mad science and a mutant druglord terrorist, but will their deadliest enemies be Wisdom’s long-lost allies? Featuring killer zombies, exploding buildings and international subterfuge in the form of Russian Warborgs sent to kill!

Jamie Madrox, stabbed, staggering off a bus. Jamie Madrox, setting up a detective agency in the heart of Mutant Town. Jamie Madrox, a peaceful Shaolin priest. Which is the real Jamie Madrox? Is Jamie his own best friend or worst enemy? In this noir-esque thriller, it’s possible that even Madrox doesn’t know anymore. Then in the fallout from House of M a new mutant team is forged! X-Factor is an investigative mutant agency that includes Madrox, the Multiple Man; Guido, the Strong Guy; Wolfsbane, the were-wolf; Siryn, the chorus girl; Rictor, the living earthquake; and Generation X’s Monet, the pompous witch. Drawn together in the heart of District X, this rag-tag band of heroes has a lot of answers to find, and fast!

I had originally planned on breaking this volume right before Messiah CompleX so you would jump to X-Men bind (Vol 69) to continue to story then come back to volume 2. But it made more sense to just include Messiah CompleX so I added the trade paper back to this bind.

Volume 2: Back and There Again

Following the events of Messiah CompleX, X-Factor Investigations is in shambles. Jamie is a basket case from his trip to a nightmarish future, Layla’s fate is completely in the air, and Wolfsbane has to leave the team to join X-Force – though none of her friends can know about it. What will Wolfsbane tell the X-Factor team? What are they going to do about Layla? How is Jamie coping with his guilt? Get onboard here for X-Factor’s brand-new direction! Plus: He’s gone from the son of one of the world’s greatest villains to one of Earth’s Mightest Heroes and then to one of the world’s greatest villains in his own right. Now, Pietro Maximoff, Quicksilver, the man behind the Decimation of the world’s mutants, finds himself depowered and trapped in a prison cell, where he must confront all the demons of his past.

This bind was another tough call on where to break the volume.  I decided to end it with issue 50 before it goes back to legacy numbering when the next issue is 200.  It’s a thin volume.

As the world’s only mutant detective agency, X-Factor Investigations welcomes all cases the stranger, the better! And their latest gigs involve gods, vampires, the disappearance of the Invisible Woman and the ever-volatile state of mutant politics lurching from a literal Utopia to a damaging Schism! But in the wake of a heartbreaking loss, the team has splintered and Jamie Madrox begins a quest for the answers he needs to feel whole again. What does his future have in store? Meanwhile, Siryn faces the fight of her life, and a traumatized Wolfsbane returns with a baby on the way only to learn that her ex-boyfriend, Rictor, has a new love! And will a member of X-Factor fall? It’s an X-book like no other!

Volume 4: Breaking Points

As Havok and Polaris take the reins of X-Factor Investigations, the Isolationist makes his chilling return! Then a story arc that will change the face of X-Factor forever! As a rejected Strong Guy does the unthinkable, two characters whom you never thought would come face-to-face are finally reunited. Discovering a long-buried secret from the past, one member of X-Factor will be driven insane as, devastated by the recent tragedies befalling the team, another makes a terrible sacrifice in hopes of making things right. Volume 42: The Shattering

The X-Men have stayed together in the face of countless threats, but what happens when the team’s leader simply disbands it? Marvel’s mightiest mutant mind snaps the team into pieces but an unholy alliance of ancient and alien evils isn’t calling it quits, so neither will the X-Men! Plus: Colossus and Marrow face a shared friend and foe, Rogue discovers the Destiny Journals, and Wolverine stares Death in the face!

Volume 43: The Twelve

Setting his grand plan for godhood into motion, Apocalypse dispatches his agents to capture the world’s most powerful mutants, the fabled Twelve: Professor X, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Iceman, Sunfire, Polaris, Cable, Bishop, Mikhail Rasputin, the Living Monolith and Magneto with hopes to siphon their power, granting him omnipotency. Desperate to stave off his ascension, the X-Men must strike a temporary truce with Magneto to battle the warlord’s forces as the Twelve are assembled but will they be enough?

Volume 44: Dark Seduction

Volume 23: X-Cutioner’s Song

Volume 26: Ceremonies and Revelations

Wedding bells are ringing for the most star-crossed super hero couple of all…Scott Summers and Jean Grey! But there’s a ton of action to go with the romance as the X-Men and Avengers must keep Magneto’s Acolytes from destroying Genosha, the mutant-killing Legacy Virus hits close to home, and Professor X decides to rehabilitate the monster known as Sabretooth! But love conquers all as Jean and Scott tie the knot at last before a mind-bending honeymoon to the far future!? Meanwhile powerful anti-mutant bigots have commandeered a familiar alien virus that may end all mutants once and for all! Plus, Omega Red and the Acolytes prove to Cable that no matter how many old enemies a hero has, there’s always room for new ones!

Volume 27: Phalanx Covenant

The Phalanx, a cold, vicious and unstoppable foe that absorbs all in its path has been unleashed against Mutantkind! But these creatures are far more than their creators bargained for and they plan to summon their parent race to overtake Earth! When the Phalanx captures the X-Men, the remaining X-teams must split into three groups. Banshee, Sabretooth and the White Queen attempt to save the next generation of mutants from the Phalanx’s clutches.  Members of X-Force, X-Factor and Excalibur attempt to prevent the Phalanx from contacting their home world and rescue Docklock.  Then finally Cyclops, Phoenix, Cable and Wolverine head into the heart of the Phalanx to rescue captured the X-Men!

Volume 28: Legion Quest

Then, it’s the dawning of a new day as Xavier’s School opens the doors to its Massachusetts Academy! Jubilee says goodbye to the X-Men as she joins the fledgling Generation X, along with the sullen Chamber, overachieving Husk, know-it-all M, good natured Sync, mischievous Skin and the mysterious Penance, but when the marrow sucking monster known as Emplate strikes, will any of the new students survive their baptism of fire?

Then, Mystique seeks revenge against Legion for killing Destiny. Unfortunately, he actions have awakened a once comatose Legion! Now his once-shattered psyche is finally united, with a singular purpose! To make up for all the misery he has visited on his father, Charles Xavier. And to do it, he plans to make Xavier’s dream a reality by travelling back in time to kill its greatest obstacle, Magneto! The X-Men scramble to stop him from altering history but, lost in the past, can they thwart Legion’s misguided mission before the entire Marvel Universe is wiped away?

Volume 56: Day of the Atom

Finally putting to rest their own recent past, the X-Men embark on an all-new, all-different era of excitement! Cyclops and Emma Frost re-form the X-Men with the express purpose of “astonishing” the world. But when breaking news regarding the mutant gene unexpectedly hits the airwaves, will it derail their new plans before they even get started? As demand for the “mutant cure” reaches near-riot levels, the X-Men go head-to-head with the enigmatic Ord, with an unexpected ally and some unexpected adversaries tipping the scales!

When everyone’s favorite shape-shifting secret agent is sent to Europe to investigate a biotech company rumored to be using mutants as guinea pigs, she discovers a mystery far greater than anything she’d imagined! As Mystique and Shortpack get closer to their objective, they must confront a new revelation: that someone is selling transient mutants as guinea pigs, slaves and worse! Will Mystique go after this mutant-selling scum, or will she allow her personal crisis to tear her apart first?

Volume 56.01: Wolverine Coyote Crossing (Pending)

The 2003 Wolverine series crosses over into the X-Men a lot after issue 19.  It did not make sense to bind the title on it’s own.  The first three story arcs as well as Old Man Logan do not fit in anywhere with the X-Men so I opted to make them their own bind.  I may update this volume with miscellaneous stories.

Volume 57: Choosing Sides

The Xavier Institute students thought they had it tough when Professor X was running things but now Cyclops and Emma Frost are in charge! As a new semester begins, the students adopt code names and costumes, and are separated into training squads…and Dani Moonstar’s New Mutants soon find themselves feuding with Emma Frost’s Hellions.

The X-Men investigate a series of mysterious murders in New York City. All the victims seem to have been cut to pieces by blades…Adamantium blades! But if Wolverine didn’t murder these people, then who did?! Plus: While on assignment to track down missing teammate Sage, the X-Men discover more than they bargained for: the birth of a newer and deadlier Hellfire Club!

Then, welcome to Mutant Town, the dark corner of New York City where the long arm of the law has been severed clean. Here, the mutant population doesn’t sport GQ-style or champagne dreams. They eke out each day in squalid tenement rows and filthy streets where only one man and one law can be trusted: the X-Man Bishop.

Volume 58: World’s End

Professor Xavier has now assembled his ragtag team of Magneto and Callisto with youngsters Wicked, Freakshow and Shola under their tutelage. Already struggling to keep the peace in Genosha, as well as between themselves, will the team have the strength to get to the bottom of simultaneous terrorist attacks on X-Corp offices around the world? Plus: Magneto has returned to Genosha, and he’s got someone with him…someone who promises to shake things up for Professor X and his newly formed team!

Then Someone…or something…is haunting the halls of the Xavier Institute, and it’s up to the X-Men-in-training to get to the bottom of it! Can the New Mutants find a way to bring peace to this tortured being before they become the tortured?

Finally, the mysterious and powerful Phoenix Force is life incarnate, and yet it consumes whole worlds in a moment. Its long history with the X-Men is fraught with tragedy… especially concerning one of the most beloved of their number, Jean Grey. What will happen when the Phoenix returns to Earth in search of the one mortal who could ever contain its power… only to find her dead?

Volume 59: Enemy of the State

Wolverine has long been the X-Men’s most dangerous member but now, this deadly living weapon has switched sides! Defeated by the Gorgon and brainwashed by Hydra and the Hand, Wolverine has become an agent of the ruthless ninja clan slicing and dicing his way through S.H.I.E.L.D., the Fantastic Four and the X-Men! And his former friends and teammates will pay a very high price to subdue him. As Hydra picks off superhumans one by one and the X-Men mourn a fallen friend, S.H.I.E.L.D. works feverishly to deprogram Wolverine. Can he be turned against his former masters in time to prevent worldwide death and destruction?

Then The X-Men travel to Antarctica to respond to an S.O.S. from a colony of mutants…and what they find is far more shocking than they expected! Will the X-Men share the colony’s gruesome fate?

Volume 60: Dangerous Liaisons

A new student has arrived at the Xavier Institute. She’s sexy, sassy, and has the hots for Gambit! Will Remy be seduced by this little Lolita, or will Rogue do the unthinkable to keep her man?!

Ever wonder what Gambit gets up to when he’s not out saving the world with the X-Men? Welcome to the exciting but treacherous terrain of the New Orleans underworld, where Gambit’s skills and mastery are unquestioned but this time, his confidence might be his downfall! Gambit has faced some risky jobs, but this may be his most dangerous yet: He’ll have to infiltrate the heavily-fortified home of the world’s most powerful mutants. That’s right…Gambit’s got to swipe something right from under the noses of his teammates, the X-Men!

Then Nightcrawler’s back but for how long?! As a badly injured Kurt lies on the brink of death, moments of his life flash before his eyes. Unfortunately, these memories are not how he remembered. Is his past a lie? Could the sins of his murderous brother be paid for by Nightcrawler? Or is Kurt actually responsible for atrocities even he finds unspeakable?!

Volume 61: Target X

“Year’s End”, the Xavier Institute’s end-of-year dance is upon the New Mutants. Invitations are declined, hearts broken, and jealously runs rampant! And just as the X-Men leave for a mission, an old villain sees this as the perfect time to strike! Then the Hellions spend the summer in California, where they’ll discover the dirty secrets from one of their pasts and will face a temptation that will determine whether these kids will be heroes or villains.

Callisto answers a cry for help from Warren Worthington, a.k.a. Archangel! But Callisto and Warren have some pretty unpleasant history between them…can they overcome their differences long enough to survive? Meanwhile, Professor X and Magneto struggle to help their disturbed guest on Genosha.

After escaping the facility that created her, X-23 struggles to create a life for herself. However she will not rest until she faces off with the one man most responsible for her life, Wolverine. There will be blood.

Volume 70: Divided We Stand

With the tragic ending of Messiah Complex the X-Men are no more! Lost more than ever the X-Men disband as Cyclops ponders the future of not only the X-Men but all of mutant kind! Will the Young X-Men be the new team to replace the X-Men? In these trying times one thing is certain. The last remaining mutants must be protected at all costs. In the darkness Cyclops puts together a team that must do what the X-Men never could. Actively and permanently remove threats to all mutant kind. Beware X-Force has returned and they have only one goal, to kill!

Volume 74: Utopia

Who are the Dark X-Men? He has his own Avengers team and now Norman Osborn has his own X-Men team. The other shoe has finally dropped and Emma Frost has betrayed Cyclops and the rest of the X-Men. And that’s just one of the huge surprises in “UTOPIA”. Is that Namor? Cloak and Dagger? Professor X?! The thing that you aren’t ready for is that Osborn is right.

Emplate is back and he’s out for blood. More specifically, for mutant bone marrow. And with the X-Men still reeling from Utopia, he may have picked the perfect time to come calling.

Volume 75: Necrosha

Selene’s Inner Circle stands revealed and her master plan has been set into motion. Watch as the resurrected dead lay siege to the X-Men’s headquarters and the fight to survive the Black Queen’s vengeance begins. But while Warpath and Wolverine realize what’s happening, they may be too late to stop it. Because Selene is already well on her way to achieving ultimate power half a world away. And the rest of the X-Men fight mutants back from the dead!

Volume 76: Nation X

Cyclops has moved the X-Men from New York and created a home for mutants in San Francisco. He sent X-Force to the future to support his son Cable and even outwitted Norman Osborn and his Dark Avengers. He even led the X-Men against the undead armies of Selene but now comes one of the most difficult tasks he has ever faced….handling the day to day duties of managing the sovereign nation island of Utopia.

Juggling the basic needs of food, water and shelter are stressful enough but when trouble threatens to consume Emma Frost from within Cyclops may be in for the fight of his life. To make matters worse Beast has caught wind of X-Force, his secret black ops squad. Plus Pixie’s mother pays Utopia a visit but when evil forces conspire to consume Pixie it spurns a family reunion you would not believe! And just wait until you find out which long time X-Men villain is her father! Meanwhile Cable and Hope inch closer and closer to the present.

Volume 77: Second Coming

The climax of four years of X-Men stories is the X-Event of 2010! What started in HOUSE OF M with the Decimation of mutantkind and erupted with the first new mutant birth in MESSIAH COMPLEX finishes here. In the epic crossover SECOND COMING, Cyclops’ faith pays off when Cable returns to the present with Hope, the girl he believes to be the mutant messiah. But will she be the savior or destroyer of mutantkind? We may never know, as she is the target of an initiative for mutant eradication unlike anything the X-Men have ever experienced. Many will be wounded. Several will die. Is Hope worth it?
