The X-Men have just averted the Age of Apocalypse, but the threat of Onslaught looms right around the corner – a villain so powerful he put the unstoppable Juggernaut into a coma! But before the X-Men can learn more about this shadowy foe, they must face Gene Nation, led by the vicious Marrow and help Magneto’s Acolytes battle Apocalypse’s son, Holocaust, who escaped the AoA into the Marvel Universe! Plus: How will the world react when the Legacy virus’ existence is made public? Can Rogue handle learning Gambit’s greatest secret? And did Sabretooth’s brain damage truly change his personality, or is he a time bomb waiting to go off? And what decades-old connection does Professor X have with the secretive Clan Destine? When Synraith returns, the two teams clash but all is not what it seems! Can the X-Men solve the mystery before Synraith’s victory is complete?

Onslaught is coming! But first, the X-Men must survive his herald, the punishing and powerful Post! Stolen from the Mansion in the middle of the middle of the night the X-Men must defeat Post while in their pajamas?

Some time ago the mad Mikhail Rasputin swept the Morlocks away into a harsh realm where time ran much faster than normal. There, the next generation of Morlock children came of age, hard and cold and bitter. They returned as a terrorist unit called Gene Nation, and Storm nearly had to slay their leader. Now adducted into Mikhail’s brutal dimension Storm must prevail against the living reminders of her failure to lead the Morlocks!

Then to save a trainful of commuters from Mr. Sinister’s explosive experiments Gambit, Bishop and Beast risk life and limb! As if that was not bad enough the X-Men have reached the end of the road to Onslaught but have all their trials been enough to prepare them for the mysterious villain’s imminent assault?

A rogue government strike force, backed by powerful international forces and led by the mystery man known only as Bastion, has launched a massive strike against the X-Men. Jubilee and Professor X are already Bastion’s captives, and now Operation: Zero Tolerance and its insidious new Prime Sentinels have overrun the X-Mansion and imprisoned half the X-Men, leaving Iceman to fend for himself on the streets of New York! Cable and the X-Men must fight a war on many fronts but it’s a war they’re losing. Can even the arrival of Marrow, Maggott and Cecilia Reyes turn the tide? Or will this be the X-Men’s darkest hour? For years, they’ve loved each other from a safe distance. Now Rogue and Gambit will become closer than ever and it may shatter their lives permanently! For when Remy LeBeau’s past actions are revealed, he’ll be put on trial but who will serve as judge, jury and executioner?

And as Beast, Iceman and Angel join Cyclops and Jean for old times’ sake, will an uncanny adventure have them all feeling blue and questioning their future as X-Men? Meanwhile Angel contemplates a much bleaker fate! Meanwhile Psylocke, Longshot and Dazzler join the undermanned X-Men just in time to clash with the Avengers! When Magneto seeks to recover fragments of Asteroid M, the Avengers step in to investigate. Unsure of his intentions, they seek to bring him to trial before the World Court in Paris. Fortunately for Magneto, his teammates in the Uncanny X-Men step in to defend him no matter what the cost. These two teams face off and also have to deal with the Soviet Super Soldiers!

The New Mutants face off against their rivals, the Hellions, to track Bird-Brain down but before the quest is done, one of them will switch sides! And there’s worse in store for the team as they trace Bird-Brain’s origins back to the freak-filled island of the Ani-Mator. Then it’s rematch you have been waiting for, X-Men vs Marauders round two! Unfortunately Storm is on her own journey of discovery with Naze which leads her on a path with the goal of killing Forge!

Cyclops and Marvel Girl don’t know how to feel towards one another. And amidst all this, a new generation of troubled mutant teens desperately needs help… especially when they’re targeted by the villainous Right! As if that’s not enough, X-Factor faces the Horsemen of Apocalypse! While as the New Mutants lose their innocence along with one of their own! Finally, the legendary X-Men make the ultimate sacrifice to stop the Adversary from plunging the world into darkness. Witness as they charge headlong into death itself to protect a world that hates and fears them.

Days of Future Present! A man from the future, desperately searching for the safety of his past, returns to those he once loved to save them from a future of tyranny and death. But in doing so he may have brought with him the greatest threat of all… the mutant killer Ahab. Then the X-Men, New Mutants and X-Factor are targeted for X-Tinction! To rescue a friend, the X-Men must invade the mutant-enslaving island nation of Genosha but the Genoshans’ memories are long, and their revenge will be terrifying! As the Magistrates strike, X-Factor and the New Mutants are drawn into the conflict…and soon discover old foe Cameron Hodge powered up and pulling the strings! The three X-teams are kidnapped, brainwashed, stripped of their powers, forced into combat and at least one among them will die! Can the powerless X-Men triumph over the military might of an entire nation?

Magneto’s future, Wolverine’s past and the X-Men in between! As mutants escape persecution they call on a retired Magneto for protection. Then the Hand revives an old enemy of Wolverine! Who is Omega Red and what does Sabretooth and the mysterious Maverick have to do with him? When new villains overthrow the Hellfire Club in a bloody coup, a freshly formed team of X-Men is caught in the middle! But their battle is interrupted when hundreds of escaped convicts arrive from the future pursued by the ruthless mutant policeman named Bishop! Raised since childhood on the legends of the X-Men, how will Bishop react to meeting his idols? What deadly portent of doom does he carry with him? And why does he quickly set his sights on Gambit? Meanwhile, the rest of the X-Men have their hands full as Colossus’s long-lost brother returns.

Volume 1: New Beginnings

Valerie Cooper launches a new government mutant response initiative to replace the now defunct Freedom Force. Led by Havok the new X-Factor consists of Polaris, Wolfsbane, Multiple Man, Quicksilver, and Strong Guy (don’t ask). Can Havok step out of the shadow of his brother Cyclops? After being possessed by Malice can Polaris figure out who she really is? Wolvesbane faces the repercussions of her brain washing by the Genoshan Magistrate while Multiple Man and Strong Guy are all about having fun! However before this group can get their bearings they are almost immediately thrust into a world of politics, media and red tape as they stand as America’s premiere mutant team! This volume includes Peter David’s epic X-Factor run!

I intentionally left out issues 84-86 as they are parts of the X-Cutioner’s Song crossover with X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, and X-Force. (Looking back I probably should have just included X-Cutioner’s Song.
