Site - Frequently Asked Questions

Changing Your Site Avatar

If you want a custom avatar associated with your profile and posts on the site, all you have to do is register for a Gravatar (globally recognized avatar). Not only will your new Gravatar image show up on ComicBinding.com, but it will also show up across a variety of other websites when you leave comments. Leave a comment at Superheroes-R-Us.com and you’ll see what I mean.

Just be sure you register at Gravatar.com with the same email address you used to create your account here and you’re all set.

Create a Post

All registered users can create posts to share their maps, images, or bound collections. Just follow the steps or watch the video tutorial on the Create a Post page.

When you complete your post, a site moderator or admin will approve the post and publish it. Once you have made a few posts, you’ll be able to publish on your own.

Post as much as you like. This is your site and we all want to see and hear your ideas.

Image Sizes

When creating or uploading images to the site, all images must be smaller than 2MB. Most images will always fall way under that size, unless you’re uploading artwork to share – if that’s the case follow the Guidelines for Sharing Files.

The maximum resolution on image uploads is 1024 x 1024. Anything larger will be resized to to 1024 width or height – whichever is larger. Again, for sharing artwork (covers, contents, dust jackets) follow the Guidelines for Sharing Files to upload full resolution images.

All images will have a thumbnail created, sized to 300 x 190, when displayed on the site.

Images for downloads will be displayed at the 300 x 190 size – so when linking to offsite images, keep the file size close to that to reduce page loading time.

Post Status – Pending or Draft

Here’s a quick and important note about creating new posts.

You’ll see this information on the right of the screen when creating a new post:

Publish - Draft of Pending

When you are working on a post (map, gallery, blog, etc.), use the Save Draft button to save your work. The system automatically saves a draft every few minutes for you as well. Use the Save Draft button to work on something, save it, and come back and work on it more later.

Use the Submit for Review button to let us know it’s ready for the public to see. When you’re done editing your draft, Submit for Review and one of the site administrators will approve and publish the post.

Posts marked as Draft will be ignored. Posts marked as Pending (Submitted for Review) will be published ASAP.

Select a Category

There are several categories on the site. Here’s a quick description on what they are and what category you should put your post.

  • Blog – General post category. If you’re not sure, put it here. Share info, an image or anything else.
  • Gallery – Show off your newest binds or your favorite binds with multiple images. View the Gallery tutorial to learn how.
  • Mapping – the most important info on the site – what order to put the comics in before you have them bound. Share your maps with the community and look for maps for your upcoming project.
  • Art – Use this to share large files and art for binding. Perfect for covers, table of contents and dust jackets. Be sure to read the Sharing Files page before creating this type of post.
  • FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about the site and about binding in general. Feel free to add to these sections, but keep the questions specific and the answers short.
