Batman: Knightfall Trilogy
Prelude to Knightfall
Vengeance of Bane
Batman #484-487
Detective #654-656, 657 (p. 1-2)
Batman #488
Detective #657 (p. 3-22), #658
Batman #489-490
Starts with the whole subplot of Batman starting to get run down. I didn’t include Sword of Azrael, because I have the trade, which I keep just prior to this volume on my bookcase. Now, if you’re really anal about your Batman continuity, LOTDK Annual #2 (marriage of Gordon and Essen) probably should go in there somewhere, because the wedding is mentioned as upcoming in the earlier issues, and in the past in later issues. However, that story itself doesn’t tie into Knightfall, and would slow the pacing of this book down. So I’ll fudge it, and include that at the end of whatever Batman volume would come before this.

Yes, that’s the correct placement of SOTB 16-18, contrary to what DC tries to say. Just read the issues, and you can tell it’s impossible for SOTB to take place after Detective #665.
And now for one of the most asked for reading orders….and most requested Batman story that hasn’t been reprinted.
KnightQuest 1

Breaking here keeps the Abbatoir and new costume plots all together in volume 2. I think KnightQuest is just too big for one book. And I wouldn’t separate the Search out into a separate book, because Az-Bats does show up in the LOTDK arc.

Okay, I cheated a little. I have the TPB of Knightsend, but there’s nothing wrong with it.

This is the map I am following for my Knightquest bind. I’ve got enough space that I am going to include Zero Hour/Zero Month Batman books in the KnightsEnd volume.
Good map!
This was, no joke, one of the first runs I ever prepped to bind and I’ve never perfected it, but now I’m just going to follow the map.
I was going to take this storyline all the way through PRODIGAL. You wouldn’t happen to have that mapped out, would you? I’ll dig mine out if anyone is interested.
I just added a Prodigal map, including Zero Month and the Troika, and a few other loose ends. I don’t have a perfect Zero Hour map yet, but for Batman himself, just take the issues right after Knightsend.

Thanks, man. This is absolutely going to get me off my duff and get a box to Texas ASAP.
I think it’s really important to have Sword of Azrael in the Prelude Volume. Without it Jean-Paul Valley just kind of shows up out of nowhere. And it’s pretty easy to find in back issues or trade. Other than that, this is pretty much exactly the map I have laid out for this storyline.
Like I said, I have the trade of Sword of Azrael, and it’s right before Prelude on my bookshelf. When I was hunting down back issues, it was cheaper to obtain the trade than the individual issues, and I didn’t feel like taking the trade apart to bind.
Hey does anybody have a BATMAN die stamp? If yes where did you get it?
