This set includes the first 50 issues of the 1976 Warlord series from DC. All issues are written and illustrated by Mike Grell. The series lasted 133 issues and has had numerous attempts at revival over the years, but the first 50 issues illustrated by Grell himself were of particular interest to me. His style is best compared to the great Neal Adams, and that quality defines the early years of the series.

Warlord Annual 1
Very cool! I recently picked up this entire series and had thought about binding it. what color did you go with for the buckram?
I went with navy/dark blue w/ white lettering. After removing all the double page ads, back covers, and backup stories, the first 50 issues easily fit into two volumes.
I only bound the stuff written and drawn by Grell himself. Damn, those are some mighty fine comics. The next few issues are supposedly written by Grell, but I read somewhere that he didn’t do it, but rather that they were ghosted by someone else. I also included the first Annual at the end of the second volume. I guess I need to edit my post!
They were ghosted by his wife.
To further elaborate… Scripting credits for issues #52-71 per Mike Grell October 2006. “I worked by dictation and she (wife Sharon) typed the scripts. I plotted, she wrote. I got billing credit.”
